Cambridge is a place in England and it might ring a bell because every year there’s a famous boat race between Cambridge and Oxford University. Did you know that it’s also where English Exams were born?
In 1858 Cambridge Assessment was established as the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) by the University of Cambridge.
They were set up to administer local examinations for students who were not members of the University of Cambridge, with the aim of raising standards in education and they haven’t stopped since!
Our BL (Boss Lady) read somewhere, but now she can’t find the thread, that there were rumours that Cambridge started to set standards and did their first exams in the times of Henry VIII. Fake news? Probably!
And there’s more – Cambridge Exams are accepted everywhere!
More than 25,000 organisations in 130 countries around the world rely on their secure exams and tests as proof of English language ability.
With nearly 160 years of experience and over 65% of the planet accepting the Cambridge Assessment English qualification, they are most certainly the Leaders in examining English worldwide!
